FIFTH ITEM ON THE AGENDA
Invitation of non-governmental international organizations:
(a) Meeting of Experts on Safety and Health in Forest Work
(Geneva, 23-30 September 1997)
1. In addition to the non-governmental international organizations that have general consultative status with the ILO, it is proposed to invite the following organizations to be represented by observers at the above meeting:
- International Federation of Building and Wood Workers;
- International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco, and Allied Workers' Associations;
- Trade Unions International of Agricultural, Forestry and Plantation Workers;
- World Federation of Building and Woodworkers Unions;
- Federation of Timber and Related Industries Workers' Unions of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
2. The Committee on Sectoral and Technical Meetings and Related Issues may wish to recommend that the Governing Body authorize the Director-General to invite the non-governmental organizations listed above to be represented by observers at the Meeting of Experts on Safety and Health in Forest Work.
(b) Tripartite Meeting on the Iron and Steel Workforce
of the Twenty-first Century
(Geneva, 27-31 October 1997)
3. In addition to the non-governmental international organizations that have general consultative status with the ILO, it is proposed to invite the following organizations to be represented by observers at the above meeting:
- International Metalworkers' Federation;
- International Iron and Steel Institute;
- Trade Unions International of Workers in the Metal Industry;
- World Federation of Industry Workers.
4. The Committee on Sectoral and Technical Meetings and Related Issues may wish to recommend that the Governing Body authorize the Director-General to invite the non-governmental organizations listed in paragraph 3 above to be represented by observers at the Tripartite Meeting on the Iron and Steel Workforce of the Twenty-first Century.
(c) Tripartite Meeting on Breaking through the Glass Ceiling:
Women in Management
(Geneva, 15-19 December 1997)
5. In addition to the non-governmental international organizations that have general consultative status with the ILO, it is proposed to invite the following organizations to be represented by observers at the above meeting. All of them have been invited to attend ILO meetings in the past, have an interest and competence in the subject and have indicated a desire to be invited.
- Education International;
- General Confederation of Trade Unions;
- International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance;
- International Association of Students in Economics and Management;
- International Council of Nurses;
- International Federation of Business and Professional Women;
- International Federation of Commercial, Clerical, Professional and Technical Employees;
- International Federation of University Women;
- International Federation of Women Lawyers;
- International Federation of Women in Legal Careers;
- Pan-African Women's Organization;
- Public Services International;
- World Council of Management;
- World Federation of Personnel Management Associations;
- World Union of Professions;
- Zonta International.
6. The Committee on Sectoral and Technical Meetings and Related Issues may wish to recommend that the Governing Body authorize the Director-General to invite the non-governmental organizations listed in paragraph 5 above to be represented by observers at the Tripartite Meeting on Breaking through the Glass Ceiling: Women in Management.
