1. Enterprise Development through Value Chains and Business Service Markets

   Pan Africanism, Decent Work and Youth Employment are at the heart of the ILO’s participation to this African Youth Experts Meeting; a key event leading up to the African Youth Forum (22 – 24 May 2013) and to the African Union Golden Jubilee, 25 May 2013 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

   102nd Session of the International Labour Conference

   5 - 20 June 2013, Geneva

4. Together with our research partner, University of Mannheim and two MFI representatives NWTF and NRSP, the Social Finance Programme is going to present results of the Microfinance for Decent Work action research at the Third European Research Conference on Microfinance to be held at the university of Agder, Kristiansand, Norway, from 10-12 June 2013. The conference will bring together more than 200 researchers from around the world making the conference the largest research event on microfinance ever!

   SOLVE training of trainers course

   24 June - 5 July 2013, International Training Centre of the ILO, Turin, Italy

   The overall objective of this course is to develop knowledge and skills that will lead to the integration of the psychosocial and health promotion issues into a comprehensive enterprise policy and establish a framework for preventative action. This course will be held in Spanish.

6. Academy on Youth Development - Supporting Effective Youth Development Policies and Programmes

   24 June - 5 July 2013, Turin, Italy

   The International Training Centre of the ILO (ITC-ILO) is pleased to announce the first edition of the "Academy on Youth Development” which has been organised with the support of the International Labour Office and other internationally active organizations.

7. 3rd Conference on Regulating for Decent Work: Regulating for Equitable and Job‐Rich Growth (RDW), 3-5 July 2013

   3 - 5 July 2013, Geneva

   The 2013 RDW Conference will centre on the role of labour market regulation when job creation is the paramount objective. Papers are invited to address labour market regulation's ideal post‐crisis form, with a special focus on four thematic issues: (a) Comparing and evaluating labour regulation systems; (b) regulating informal work; (c) industrial and employment relations for inclusive growth; (d) new patterns of segmentation and new challenges for promoting inclusive labour markets.

   The general objective of the course is to strengthen the capacity of employment injury institutions for the management of the occupational accidents and diseases and the promotion of the prevention approach on occupational safety and health.

9. Meeting of Experts to Adopt Guidelines on the Training of Ships’ Cooks

   A Meeting of Experts will be held with the purpose of reviewing an initial draft and adopting guidelines for ships’ cooks.

In both developed and developing countries, the rapid pace of technological change, combined with the persistence of unsafe or environmentally threatening working conditions, has served to focus attention on the need to create a safe, healthy working environment and to promote a new safety culture at the workplace.
