Description

The Co-operativa Valenciana de Empleadas de Hogar de Levante in Spain was formed in 2012 by 12 domestic workers following amendments to labour and social security legislation requiring domestic workers, even those working only a handful of hours a month, to have a proper employment contract. The cooperative provides a mechanism for women domestic workers to regularise their employment status and to access social security systems and benefits. Members of the cooperative have access to childcare support and vocational training.
