Reduction of Child Labour in Myanmar
Achieving reduction of child labour in support of education: Programme to reduce the worst forms of child labour in agriculture
The project’s overarching goal is the reduction of the worst forms of child labour in the agricultural/rural communities in selected zones.
In order to reach this ultimate goal, the project interventions in Myanmar and the Philippines are designed to broadly cover:
The Myanmar component of the project focuses on the reduction of child labour in communities that are predominantly working in the agriculture sector. The project will work towards building the capacity of constituents and strengthen the system to reduce child labour in the target areas, based on the objectives in the NAP through improvements in the education; economic empowerment and social mobilizations; and improving the regulatory framework and institutional development.
Quality of education and training is enhanced through improved governance resulting in enhanced skills and employability of children to gain better access to economic opportunities.
Improved capacity and awareness of key stakeholders enabling better access to quality education and understanding of youth employment needs in target areas, a means to reduce child labour.
