The ILO publishes a wide range of books, reports, working papers, training manuals, CD-ROMs, videos and flash movies, relevant to the South Pacific Island Countries. Some of these can be downloaded directly. Others can be requested from the ILO Library in Suva.

This Report provides a brief snapshot of the Joint Child Labour/Common Rule Road-show, which was conducted by the Department of Labour and Industrial Relations and the ILO in six provinces throughout the country. The Report highlights the major findings and concerns of the stakeholders in the provinces and communities on the issues of child labour and their recommendations, as way forwards on how they want these issues to be addressed.

Child labour in Papua New Guinea

The report of child labour in Papua New Guinea provides an overview of the processes, key findings and recommendations of the Child Labour Research Surveys, supported through the TACKLE project, in two sectors in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea including: i. Commercial sexual exploitation of children; and ii. Children working on the streets.

Human Capital – A Driving Force for Business Growth

The ILO’s concern for building human capital is essentially because countries at all development levels have found that adequate education and skills increases their ability to innovate and adopt new technologies. They make the difference between inclusive growth and growth that leaves large segments of society behind. A workforce that has been appropriately trained and is able to continue learning boosts investor confidence and thus job growth.

Wages policy in Fiji report of 2011 tripartite workshop series

This research was commissioned by the ILO’s Labour Governance and Migration Project through the support of the Australian Government – ILO Partnership Agreement (2010 – 2015). The findings contribute to better understanding of the support required by workers after returning to their home countries following participation in seasonal migration schemes in Australia and New Zealand.

Green jobs in the South Pacific: A preliminary study

This report has been prepared in the context of the Green Jobs Initiative, an initiative launched in 2007 by the ILO in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the International Organization of Employers (IOE). Through concerted effort by governments, employers and trade unions, the Green Jobs Initiative aims to promote research and awareness, enhance the capacity of ILO constituents,develop policies and measures to achieve green jobs and green workplaces and facilitate a “just transition” that reflects the environmental, economic and social pillars of sustainable development.
