Seasonal worker schemes review report: Validation workshops
Under the PCCMHS Programme’s second objective area related to labour migration and sustainable development, the programme undertook a review of the seasonal worker schemes of Australia and New Zealand with respect to international human rights and labour standards and participation of women and marginalized groups. The research was led by two independent external experts, Dr Carmen Voigt-Graf and Ms Sanushka Mudaliar, and with the support of key stakeholders from Fiji, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Tuvalu and Samoa, New Zealand and Australia.
From 28th to 30th July, three online validation workshops were conducted for the purpose to present and review the draft report’s findings and recommendations and to obtain feedback from key stakeholders.
The report will be finalised over the coming month and subsequently published. It is envisaged that this review will be a catalyst for increased collaboration and coordination between ILO, governments, workers’ and employers’ organizations on labour mobility in the Pacific region.
