Applying the G20 Training Strategy in Kyrgyzstan (Phase 2)

Practice demonstration technical workshop: In-depth review of practices and approaches to development of occupational standards and qualifications

Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, 16 April 2019 - A two-day training technical training workshop on development of occupational standards and qualifications (9-10 April 2019) organized by the G20TS project ended up with selection of the most active participants who can be further engaged in the development of occupational standards and qualifications for 3 priority occupational areas (skilled worker and technician level). For deepening the knowledge and skills on the subject, active participants representing VET system (lyceums and colleges) and industry sector were invited to take part in Practice demonstration technical workshop delivered on 16 April 2019 by the G20TS Project’s expert.

The workshop aimed at familiarizing participants with the objective of the pilot on development of occupational standards and qualifications and requirements on selection of industry sectors and priority occupations. For substantiated decision making, results of the estimated mapping of industry sectors were presented enabling to see the whole picture and development prospects of an industry sector. After rich discussions and brainstorming workshop participants identified 3 sectors for further formulation of occupations: gas industry, milk processing industry and food/ tourism.

The second part of the workshop was rich with carefully developed resource materials including numerous examples of applied practices, examples, approaches to formation of qualifications, and the format to be applied. Group work enabled participants to apply methods of functional analysis of complex works and working processes and critically analyse exemplary occupational standards from other countries.
