Applying the G20 training strategy Project discussed at WorldSkills 2019

The Ministry of Education in close coordination with the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation organized a Project meeting to discuss the implementation status of the project Applying the G20 Training Strategy: A Partnership of the ILO and the Russian Federation (Phase 2). The meeting was organized under the umbrella of the 45th WorldSkills competition, which was hosted in the city of Kazan on 22-27 August, 2019.

Kazan, Russian Federation, 24 August, 2019 - The Ministry of Education in close coordination with the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation organized a Project meeting to discuss the implementation status of the project Applying the G20 Training Strategy: A Partnership of the ILO and the Russian Federation (Phase 2). The meeting was organized under the umbrella of the 45th WorldSkills competition, which was hosted in the city of Kazan on 22-27 August, 2019.

The meeting welcomed government representatives from Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan and Viet Nam, as well as stakeholder representatives from Tajikistan and Belarus. The meeting was also honoured with the participation of Vice Ministers from the Russian regions Khabarovsk Krai, Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management was represented by Ms. Valeria Dovgalskaya Head of the International Programme to Strengthen the TVET Systems and Labour Markets in the CIS, Asia and the Middle East. The ILO delegation was headed by Mr. Srinivas Reddy, Chief of the Skills and Employability Branch, ILO Geneva.

The Ministry of Education of the RF welcomed the Project’s achievements and highlighted the importance of Skills Development, which was once again confirmed by the high level of participation from young people during the 2019 World Skills competition. The Ministry of Finance of the RF stressed the input of the Project towards achieving the commitments of the Russian Federation vis-à-vis the G20 Developing Working Group and the Agenda 2030.

The ILO representatives welcomed the role of the Russian Federation in Skills Development to intensify policy development and partnerships for the CIS Region and around the world. They spoke about the Project within the context of the ILO’s Centenary Declaration, which promotes a human-centred approach to sustainable development.

The constituents from the Russian Regions and the Project beneficiary countries presented the Project results in their respective countries. They called the Project a strategic component of their countries’ workforce development. They also emphasised their willingness to continue development cooperation with the Russian Federation either through further Project(s) implementation or as an experience sharing exercise.

The Project will continue to be implemented until November, 2020 and It is planned to exchange experience and lessons learnt during a final knowledge-sharing workshop in 2020.
