23 March 2019 - the International educational program for leading regional VET management teams REGION PROFI «Managing the changes in the VET system to strengthen regional economy» was completed in Yakutia.

Key goal of the program – to train VET management teams to develop and implement new educational programs in line with regional economic development goals.

The project was being implemented in the framework of the International program to strengthen VET systems and labor markets in the CIS, Asia and the Middle East in which 5 pilot Russian regions were chosen to participate. The International program is a part of Russia-ILO initiative «Applying the G20 Training Strategy». Key partner organization in project implementation in Yakutia was the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

7 leading colleges of the Republic took part in the program. The teams mastered various practices in the field of education management from Russian and international experts, analyzed the regional labour market demand, and built partnerships with industrial, technological and academic partners. The new types of educational programs developed under the project adhere to the highest training standards, and fully comply with the requirements of regional business.

On March 25, 2019, the results of the program were presented to the Head of the Republic Aisen Nikolaev and his team, as well as the leaders of the largest regional business. The meeting participants reviewed projects on managing digital processes in the mining industry, digital geodesy, digital mining systems, ship design construction building, developing event tourism, and managing energy efficiency in the Far North. Four colleges specializing in training for the mining industry have formed a collective network, which will help the Republic to become the leader in the digital transformation of the mining industry.

Aisen Nikolaev highly praised the programs presented. «I see that a movement was born that will change the system of personnel training for our rapidly growing economy, » he said. - Training for us is an extremely urgent question. We are developing rapidly; the economy of Yakutia is growing at a pace that is almost twice the average for Russia. Intensive industrial development is going on throughout the Republic, starting from Zhatay, where a high-tech shipyard will be built, ending with the development of mineral deposits in Neryungri, Aldan, Lensky, Mirny and other areas. »

We hope that the successful practice of transforming colleges and technical schools obtained in pilot regions will be further broadcasted to other regions of Russia."
