Government and UN agencies in the Philippines convene and collaborate to develop the Global Accelerator roadmap.

The Philippines is a pathfinder country of the Global Accelerator, which UN agencies will actively support under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator's Office. Specifically, the International Labour Organization (ILO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

In a consultation held on 20 September 2024, they reviewed with the national government the next steps and timeline for the roadmap development. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the National Economic and Development Authority, and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) ensured these are align with the Trabaho Para sa Bayan Act Plan (TBP), which serves as the country's master plan for employment generation and recovery.

At the onset, this will be realized through the Joint Programme on Supporting Decent Job Creation and Enhancing Social Protection for Just Transition in the Philippines (Seed funding track). The Global Accelerator will also bring together Member States, UN agencies, international financial institutions, public development banks, social partners, civil society, and the private sector to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), support decent work and extend social protection.

The Global Accelerator requires a strong level of commitment. As a high-level initiative of the UN Secretary-General, it aims to create 400 million decent jobs, including in the green, digital and care economies, and to extend social protection coverage to the 4 billion people currently excluded globally.
