Training of Rural Volunteers/Education Officers of Central Board for Workers' Education (CBWE).

The training aims to educate the informal sector workers on HIV and AIDS through identified Rural Volunteers (RVs)

A three-day's training of trainers was organized in Delhi for 20 Rural Volunteers (RV) of CBWE. This was part of the collaboration with the Central Board for Workers' Education, implementing four block-level Intervention Programmes among the workers in the informal sector in Delhi, Ranchi, Bhopal and Pondicherry.. The strategy of the intervention is to educate the informal sector workers on HIV and AIDS through identified Rural Volunteers (RVs). Since RVs are the main vehicles of change in the CBWE blocks that are identified for the programme, it was crucial to build their capacity on HIV & AIDS knowledge and communication skills. After the training RV's expressed their appreciation of the effort and enjoyed interacting with RV's of other blocks. They also felt that the workshop helped them to refresh their motivation and commitment. Participation of the Education Officers and Nodal Person from CBWE faciliated provided support for planning follow-up activities.
