First technical meeting on South Asia qualifications referencing framework convened

Governance of Labour Migration in South and South-East Asia (GOALS) programme organised the first technical meeting on South Asia qualifications referencing framework on 15 -16 February 2022. The meeting brought together Member State representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Participants represented ministries of labour and human resource, education, skills as well as education departments and TVET institutions.

The key purpose of the regional qualifications referencing framework is to facilitate worker and learner mobility within and outside the region through transparency and trust in national qualifications frameworks and to promote the strengthening of the quality and effectiveness of Member States’ national qualifications systems.

Through consultative process with Member States, the GOALS programme envisages to design and develop a South Asia Qualifications Referencing Framework by 2023.
