Safety + Health for all for the plantation workers in the tea sector in Assam

A virtual consultation is organized with the employers organizations, associations of the centre, region and state and small holdings in the state of Assam.

The project, Safety and Health for Plantation Workers of Tea Sector in Assam organize the meeting with the objectives to discuss the key issues and challenges, formulate a broad action plan framework and possible implementation of activities in collaboration with the other stakeholders at the ground level in the tea sector in Assam. Specific objectives of the meeting are: 

  1. Appraise the employers’ organizations (at the central level and state/North East region) about the launch of the project and key activities planned towards implementation of the project.
  2. Discuss collaboration with the employers’ organization and their members in promoting health and safety amongst the plantation workers, with special focus on women workers. This also includes prevention of gender based violence and harassment, and promotion of gender equality and non-discrimination.
  3. Develop a broad action plan, including capacity building of participants from EMBOs, for promoting health and safety for workers in tea, with focus on both larger estates as well as in small holdings and working with small growers.
