A one day seminar on Sharing of Good Practices on Migration and Governance was held under the India EU Cooperation and Dialogue on Migration and Mobility Project implemented by the ILO, in partnership with the ICMPD and India Centre for Migration.

The Government of India and the European Union endorsed the India-EU Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility (CAMM) in 2016. The CAMM offers a mutually agreed upon framework for cooperation and engagement on migration.

A technical project under the CAMM implemented by ILO and ICMPD, with local partner ICM undertakes activities on areas of mutual interest, as identified by both sides, and facilitates the exploration of future possibilities for further cooperation on migration and mobility issues of mutual interest. To that end, the seminar on migration governance was conceptualized.

The objective of the seminar:
  1. To understand and take stock of the evolving views and efforts by EU and GOI on regular migration, irregular migration and diaspora engagement;
  2. To offer the opportunity to EU and GOI to further their existing relationship and synchronize their efforts in the governance of migration and mobility; and
  3. To put forward recommendations for potential convergence and collaboration.
Following this seminar, the 5th India EU High Level Dialogue on Mobility and Migration was held on 11 July 2019.
