Tripartite Training workshop on Formalization of Informal Economy

Sub-regional tripartite training on “Formalisation of the Informal Economy” to strengthen capacity of the ILO constituents to reach out to informal workers and enterprises and become a driver for effective promotion of transition to formality

The ILO Sub-regional project “Way out of Informality” is in cooperation with the International Training Centre in Turin organizing a tripartite workshop on “Formalisation of the Informal Economy” to be held from 21 to 24 April 2014 in Pokhara, Nepal. The training course targets senior level labour market partners from India, Nepal and Bangladesh who will be given a solid grounding in the issues surrounding the informal economy and the tools the ILO has developed to facilitate the formalization of the informal. The course will also provide an overview of a selection of approaches which have proven successful in other contexts or countries.

The course will provide the participants with a broad insight into the issues and approaches to promote formalization of the informal economy, ranging from policies, social dialogue to local economic development. The training will allow the labour market partners to better fulfil their mandate in facilitating the formalization of the informal economy, as well as strengthening capacity of the ILO constituents to reach out to informal workers and enterprises and become a driver for effective promotion of transition to formality.
