South Asia Coordinating Group on Action against Violence against Children(SACG)
The South Asia Coordinating Group on Action against Violence against Children (SACG) brings together United Nations agencies, international non-governmental organizations and other actors working at the regional level for child rights and protection in South Asia.
With a focus on strengthening child protection systems, SACG supports and engages in policy dialogue and advocacy, coordination, networking, capacity building, knowledge sharing and new knowledge generation initiatives.
SACG cooperates with the inter-governmental SAARC Apex Body, namely the South Asia Initiative to End Violence Against Children (SAIEVAC), the National Action and Coordinating Groups against Violence against Children (NACGs), children and young people, as well as other stakeholders so that all children in South Asia can enjoy their right to protection from all forms of violence in all settings.
Six strategies provide the framework for SACG’s action:
At the global level, SACG collaborates with the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Violence against Children (SRSG-VAC), promoting mutual support and joint efforts. Linkages with other regional platforms and initiatives are being established to share experiences and knowledge and thereby contribute towards global endeavours to end violence against children in all settings.
SACG is chaired on a rotational basis by its members. The ILO served as Chair of SACG in 2013 - 14, with World Vision International as Co-Chair, to lead the multi-agency group and represent it in various fora and mechanisms, including as a Member of the SAIEVAC Governing Board.
