Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia Raise Awareness on Occupational Safety and Health

Tbilisi, Georgia - Two series of trainings on national and international legislation on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) were launched on 11 October 2021 in Tbilisi. More than 20 employees of the Human Rights Protection and Investigation Quality Monitoring Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia will raise their awareness of the national OSH legislation.

The course covers such key topics as the obligations of the country in the framework of the European Union – Georgia Association Agreement; competencies, powers and organization of the Georgian Labour Inspection Office, and the role of the labour inspectors; obligations imposed on employers in the context of OSH; investigation of occupational accidents.

Training aims to improve monitoring of occupational accidents, protection of the labour rights and to increase quality of investigation of criminal cases. In light of government’s resolutions and technical regulations on occupational safety, Labour Inspection Office representatives together with ILO national experts discussed ordinances and legal acts in occupational safety and highlight appropriate risk control measures to prevent occupational accidents.

Two series of trainings on OSH for the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are supported by the ILO-Danida Project “Inclusive Labour Markets for Job Creation in Georgia”. The project is implemented with financial support of the Government of Denmark.
