Regional Director's statement on Super Typhoon Haiyan

The ILO is deeply saddened by the devastating effects of Super Typhoon Haiyan, which hit the Philippines on 8 November 2013, causing heavy loss of lives and livelihoods. We wish to express our sincere condolences to all those who have lost family members and loved-ones.

The ILO is committed to working closely with the Government of the Philippines, employers’ and workers’ organizations and other partnerson the ground to assess the situation, help create emergency employment and livelihoods as soon as possible and support an early recovery process.

We stand firmly by the people of the Philippines, who have shown much courage and resilience as they overcome this great challenge.
