Industry-specific vocational career guidance on TVET in Cebu

Nearly a hundred TVET learners received industry-specific vocational career guidance through the ILO Skills for Prosperity Programme, funded by the U.K. Government, together with TESDA and CCA in Cebu City.

Through the Skills for Prosperity (SfP) Programme, funded by the U.K. Government, the International Labour Organization (ILO) trained nearly a hundred women and men from Cebu, including youth, in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and provided industry-specific vocational career guidance.

The ILO partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Cebu Contractors Association, Inc. (CCA) to provide skills training and industry-specific vocational career guidance, which will eventually help solve the jobs-skills mismatch, promote lifelong learning and boost employment in the construction industry.

The industry-specific vocational and career guidance for TVET learners in construction was held on 27-28 February 2023 at the Cebu City Hall. It included sessions on maximizing career, labour market and entrepreneurship opportunities. Trainees were also equipped through interactive workshops on workers’ rights, employment preparedness, job application and interview readiness as well as desirable work attitude and ethics.
