First Project Management Meeting TCES Water System Construction

Partners from South Upi, Maguindanao conducted its First Project Management Unit meeting under the ILO-Japan Water and Sanitation Project. The project aims to promote peace and to provide water access through safe and decent work.

The Parent Teacher Association of the Timanan Central Elementary School and the local government of Timanan, South Upi, Maguindanao conducted its First Project Management Unit meeting under the ILO-Japan Water and Sanitation Project.

The meeting discussed required documents for the TCES Water System Level II construction, finances, mobilization cost, development workplan, orientation of workers, meeting with consumer, community mobilizer and resume of duty. Mr Arturo Maghanoy, President of the TCES Parent Teacher Association and Engineer Renato Sarikit, Chairperson of the Municipal Planning Development Unit led the meeting.

Engineer Sarikit provided updates on the status of the preparation, progress and financial reports of TCES Water System Level II Project. He reiterated that Ms Reah Mae Barneso, Municipal Accountant, will assist in the preparation of the disbursement documents.

Engineer Sarikit further emphasized in the meeting the need to provide all workers with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and strictly observe occupational safety and health (OSH) standards by wearing it properly. He also explained that before the turnover of the project, there is a need for the PMU to conduct series of meetings with consumers regarding policies and proper usage of the water system project.

The PMU meeting discussed as well to have a community mobilizer given that skills such as community organizer and mobilizer, conflict management and the likes are required and needed under the project needed. Challenges in processing needed documents both for the workers, community contractor and that of the local government were tackled in the meeting.

In the end, the PMU agreed to resume the work for the continuation of the construction. The local government will inform community contractors through an issuance of resumption to work notification as soon as concerned agencies declare resumption of all infrastructure activities.
