Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Assistant Secretary Amuerfina Reyes chaired the 4th PSC meeting on behalf of Undersecretary Ciriaco Lagunzad III. The meeting which gathered 26 participants, representing the organizations of various implementing partners, provided updates on ongoing and planned activities for 2017.
A brief report was also presented on the recently concluded SafeYouth@Work Congress in Singapore wherein six youth OSH champions from the Philippines attended. The PSC also discussed proposed Terms of Reference for upcoming activities supported by the Project. During the sharing of project updates, Assistant Secretary Reyes underscored the importance of sustained commitment from all project partners in ensuring the achievement of expected outcomes for the project. She also encouraged PSC representatives to coordinate amongst themselves as a way of guaranteeing that project support is maximized. A highlight of the meeting discussions was the participant's positive reaction to developing youth "voices" that can contribute to building OSH awareness especially among their peers, similar to what has been illustrated by the successful engagement of young people in the XXI World Congress on Safety and Health in Singapore. The PSC convenes on a quarterly basis as a strategy for monitoring project activities and its results.
