Occupational Safety and Health - Safe and Healthy Youth Project

Building a Generation of Safe and Healthy Workers (Safeyouth@work Project) 1st Project Steering Committee Meeting

Government, workers and employers, and youth joined the first Project Steering Committee meeting of the ILO's SafeYouth@Work Project.

Government, workers and employers, and youth representing 28 institutions and organizations attended the first Project Steering Committee meeting of the Building a Generation of Safe and Healthy Workers or Safeyouth@work Project.

The project gathered around 51 participants, of which 23 are women to formally establish the advisory body of the project, adopt the project's work plan, discuss the pilot enterprises/establishments, review the draft Terms of References (ToR) related to conduct of assessments, and discuss the theme of this year's World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Through the meeting, members of the Committee gave their comments on the ToR of the PSC and assessments to be carried out by the project in May 2016.

The PSC was formally created during the meeting, but there was a request from the body to request the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to designate a high level official to Chair the Committee along with the Workers' and Employers' Organizations. The body also adopted the project's work plan until December 2018. The meeting adjourned with members advocating the need to eliminate workplace stress.

Members of the Project Steering Committee(PSC) support the theme of this year's World Day for Safety and Health at Work against Workplace Stress.
Members of the committee review the proposed Terms of Reference of the Project Steering Committee.
