The Millennium Development Goal Fund (MDG F) Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Work for Filipino Youth is one of the four joint programmes in the Philippines that will be participating in the Champion and Partners in Solidarity Series on 6 and 13 December 2011. Spearheaded by the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, this series of events will provide a venue to: (a) disseminate initial gains; (b) showcase possible good practices/institutional technologies that can be replicated/scaled up; (c) attempt to match partners to collaborate in the replication/scaling up process; and (d) recognize champions and celebrate the renewal of solidarity to commit as agents for socially inclusive growth.

“Investing in human capital for the MDGs”

Recognizing that the key to sustaining the initial gains requires the commitment from local chief executives, the MDG- F Joint Programmes will collaborate with the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP). The MDG-F is proposing a forum and plenary session with the tentative theme “Investing in Human Capital for the MDGs.” To allow the MDG-F to present and offer good practices/technologies it had pilot-tested on the ground that could be replicated by the LGUs. The MDG-F Forum will i) showcase lessons learned and sound practices of the four joint programs that is replicable at the local level; ii) expand partnerships, networking and collaboration among the members of the Leagues; and iii) secure renewed commit to the accelerated achievement of the MDGs.
