Restructuring of the social security system in Indonesia

This assignment arose from the ILO Employment Strategy Mission to Indonesia as regards the findings in the field of social protection, and in particular, the serious problems of the Jamsostek scheme for employees in the private sector and State Owned Industries.

There are separate social insurance schemes for formal sector employees in the public and private sectors and the Armed Forces. These schemes are administered by different institutions, but they have similar responsibilities in that they all cover income security in the contingencies of employment injury, death, disability and old age (retirement).
