Meeting to examine measures to protect migrant fishers in the ASEAN region

ILO to promote food security and sustainable livelihoods in Kupang

Food insecurity is one of the most significant development constraints in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) Province of Indonesia. Food availability is significantly impacted by severe agro-climatic conditions and seasonality. Although the Government of NTT has been promoting agricultural production and has adopted protection measures for its farmers, the growth rate of the agriculture sector has still remained the lowest compared with trade and services.

New Zealand supports Secretary of State of Timor-Leste for the Support and Promotion of the Private Sector through the ILO’s Business Opportunities and Support Services Project

The Ambassador of New Zealand H.E. Tony Fautua and the Secretary of State for the Support and Promotion of the Private Sector H.E. Veneranda Lemos, and Ms. Michiko Miyamoto, Deputy Director of the International labour Organisation (ILO) Country Office for Indonesia and Timor-Leste today signed an agreement for New Zealand contribution of 3.9 million US Dollars to the Business Opportunities and Support Services Project (BOSS) Project, implemented by the (ILO) and the Instituto de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Empresarial (IADE).

ILO and EU launch report on trade impact on jobs in Indonesia

The International Labour Organization (ILO) with the support of the European Union (EU) has today launched a report, examining issues related to trade and employment in Indonesia. The report underlined that the impact of trade on employment in Indonesia presents potential opportunities but could also be a concern for the country.

World Day Against Child Labour 2013: Child domestic workers to present “The Broken Pearl behind the Mop”

The ILO estimates that there are 2.6 million domestic workers in Indonesia, of which 26 per cent are children under the age of 18 years old. The great majority of domestic workers are female, around 90 per cent, with low educational levels mainly coming from poor families in rural communities.

World Day Against Child Labour 2013: Say no to child labour in domestic work in Surabaya

The International Labour Organization (ILO) in Indonesia, in collaboration with Society and Development Review Institution (LPKP) and four relevant local partners (Samitra Abhaya Kelompok Perempuan Pro Demokrasi (SA-KPPD), Child Protection Board (LPA) of East Java, Indonesian Women Commission for Justice and Democracy of East Java, and Embun Foundation), will join with governments, employers’ organizations, NGOs, and other key constituents, including child labourers, in organizing a provincial action against child domestic workers on Wednesday, 12 June 2013, from 15.00 – 17.00, at Taman Bungkul Surabaya, East Java.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) in Indonesia, in collaboration with Child Protection Board (LPA) of South Sulawesi, will join with governments, employers’ organizations, NGOs, and other key constituents, including child labourers, in organizing a provincial action against child domestic workers on Wednesday, 12 June 2013, from 09.00am – 11.00am, at Sudirman Street of Makassar, South Sulawesi. The street is one of the main streets of Makassar, surrounding the official residence of the Governor of South Sulawesi.
