  1. Strengthening child labour data analysis capacities in Pakistan

    The ILO in Pakistan, through its Asia Regional Child Labour (ARC) Project, funded by Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) trained 70 stakeholders on child labour data analysis in a bid to strengthen capacities as they embark on provincial child labour surveys.

    Six community level awareness-raising seminars on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW) were organized by the Sindh Agricultural & Forestry Workers Coordinating Organization (SAFWCO) in Sanghar, Sindh Province with the support of ILO's INDITEX funded project.

  5. Cotton growing communities sensitized on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work

    Over 150 multi-stakeholders attended a seminar arranged by the Pakistan Workers Federation on 03 July 2021 in Bahawalpur, Punjab Province of Pakistan to celebrate World Day Against Child Labour 2021 under the theme “Act Now, End Child Labour”. The seminar was technically supported by the ILO Pakistan Office through its project on FPRW in the cotton supply chain funded by INDITEX.

  6. Ministry of Planning and ILO launch the National Social Protection Database

    The SDG Unit at Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives and the ILO have jointly organized a webinar on 17 June 2021 for the launch of the National SDG 1.3.1 database. The purpose of the webinar is to roll out the database across the country to generate the periodic reports on Social Protection Coverage in Pakistan.

  7. Stakeholder consensus on extending health care benefits to retired workers and families of trans-provincial workers

    25 June 2021

    A virtual consultation on the findings of the study on Social Protection extension to workers post retirement and families of trans-provincial workers is planned by the ILO project on ‘Achieving SDGs and ending poverty through USP’. The purpose of the consultation is to discuss and find consensus on the most practical options for extension of coverage to the two groups under discussion.

  8. Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) Alumni Network Meeting

    10 June 2021

    Enterprises that attended the second meeting of the SCORE alumni network on 3 June 2021 shared progress on SCORE implementation, highlighted the challenges faced and solutions pursued to counter the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participating enterprises were also introduced to ILO’s FIT Programme.

    The ILO on behalf of the UN in Pakistan in collaboration with the Planning Commission co-hosted a National Policy Dialogue on ‘Youth Employment, Economic Participation, and Opportunities’, to define priorities and interventions for 2021-22.

  11. Mine workers, owners and inspectorate officials committed to improving occupational safety and health in mines

    The Department of Mines and Mineral Development Balochistan, in collaboration with the ILO Country Office for Pakistan, organized a series of training on Occupational Safety and Health for Mineworkers, Mine Owner and Mines Inspectorate officials.

    The Ehsaas Delivery Unit at the Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division and the ILO have jointly organised a webinar on May 1st, 2021 for the launch of MKE Report. The purpose of the webinar is to share steps taken for the actualisation of the MKE initiative and discuss its key recommendations.

  15. Capacity building of cotton communities on child labour, forced labour and occupational health and safety

    ILO organised series of 27 community level awareness raising seminars on child labour, forced labour, OSH including COVID-19 and protecting children from pesticides for the cotton picking workers of Southern Punjab under its project “Elimination of Child Labour and Forced Labour in the Cotton, Textile and Garment Value Chains: an Integrated Approach” Co-funded by the European Union.

  17. Stakeholders reaffirm commitment to eradicate child labour in Pakistan

    The ILO Office for Pakistan convened national consultative workshop in Islamabad to present Asia Regional Child Labour (ARC) Project to stakeholders, solicit inputs for validating/amending the priority sectors for in-depth research and interventions and assessing stakeholders’ needs to address child labour in the priority sectors. The ARC project is a four year project funded by United Kingdom’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office.

    The Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) in collaboration with the All Pakistan Women Association (APWA) commemorated the International Women Day in Lahore. The theme of the IWD was ‘Stakeholders Dialogue on ILO C-190 Gender Based Violence at Workplace’.

  20. International Labour Standards Training for Pakistani Labour and Industrial Relations Court Judges
