  1. National stakeholders’ workshop on achieving SDGs and ending poverty through Social Protection

    A national stakeholders’ workshop was organised by the ILO as part of the project ‘Achieving SDGs and Ending Poverty through Social Protection’, funded by the UN Peace and Development Trust Funds pledged by the Government of China. The project is being jointly implemented by the ILO and UNDESA in Cambodia and Pakistan.

  2. National workshop on fundamental principles and rights at work and occupational safety & health in the cotton supply chain

    The ILO convened a two days National Consultative Workshop on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and Occupational Safety & Health in the Cotton Supply Chain.

  3. Awareness raising seminars conducted on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work for cotton growing communities in district Sanghar

    22 April 2019

    Under the ILO-INDITEX PPP, two community level awareness raising seminars were conducted in district Sanghar benefiting 159 participants (cotton growing communities and local key stakeholders) to strengthen their understanding on the Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (FPRW) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the cotton supply chain.

  5. ILO pilots Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) training programme in Pakistan

    01 April 2019

    The International Labour and Environmental Standards Application in Pakistan’s SMEs (ILES), a project of ILO, funded by the European Union, piloted SCORE training programme in Pakistan. Ten large textile enterprises and 13 consultants were trained in workplace cooperation, quality management, clean production, human resource management and occupational safety and health.

  6. Working session with labour force survey team on the framework of fundamental principles and rights at work, their measurement and the related issues

    ILO Country Office for Pakistan, through its European Union (EU) funded project ‘Sustaining Strengthened National Capacities to Improve International Labour Standards (ILS) Compliance and Reporting in Relevant EU Trading Partners’ engages the Labour Force Survey Team of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on the Framework of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, their measurement and the related issues.

    A technical session on Minimum Wage determination was organised as part of a knowledge sharing initiative by the BMZ funded project of the ILO ‘Labour Standards in Global Supply Chains: A Programme of Action for Asia and the Garment Sector’ (LSGSC).

  3. Awareness raising campaign on OSH in the construction sector of Karachi

    The ILO under its Dutch funded project on “Strengthening Labour Inspection System in Pakistan (SLISP)” supported the Labour and Human Resources Department of Sindh in implementing an awareness raising campaign on Occupational Safety and Health in the construction sector of Karachi.

  5. Consultative meeting on Trade related Investment Policy Framework (TRIPF)

    12 November 2018

    The EU funded project ‘Sustaining strengthened national capacities to improve ILS compliance and reporting in relevant EU trading partners’ supported Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EFP) to let employers brainstorm the labour market implications of the TRIPF and inform it with their inputs.

  6. The future of work and the significance of effective collective bargaining and negotiations

    The Labour Standards in Global Supply Chains (LSGSC) project, funded by German Ministry for Development Cooperation (BMZ) & Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) completed a four-day training on collective bargaining and negotiations skills during 24-27 September 2018 in Lahore, Pakistan.

  7. Stakeholders committed to promote fundamental principles and rights at work in Pakistan’s cotton, textile and garment value chains

    04 October 2018

    The ILO office in Pakistan carved out the roadmap for the elimination of child and forced labour and towards promoting fundamental principles and rights at work (FPRW) in the cotton, textile and garment value chains in Pakistan. These interventions will be spearheaded by two new projects of the ILO funded by the EU & INDITEX.

    The ILO Pakistan Office, under its flagship project, Labour Standards in Global Supply Chains (LSGSC), organized a four day training workshop on ‘Collective Bargaining and Negotiations Skills’ in Karachi from 15-18 August, 2018.

  10. The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan embarks on the development of a Youth Employment Strategy

    The ILO in collaboration with the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan and Prime Ministers’ Youth Programme (PMYP) held consultative workshops on Youth Employment Framework in Gilgit and Skardu as part of a series of consultations across the country aimed at devising consensus based strategies for youth employment and empowerment.

  11. Fourteenth cohort of national labour inspectors’ training program completed

    09 August 2018

    The fourteenth cohort and fifth batch of inspecting staff of the Department of Labour Punjab were trained under the ILO’s Dutch funded project on Strengthening Labour Inspection Systems in Pakistan (SLISP). This brings the number of trained inspecting staff to 403 inspecting staff [ i.e. 385 men and 18 women] from Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, AJK, ICT, GB and Punjab.
