    "Minors out of Mining", aims to eliminate child labour in small-scale mining completely within ten years, starting with countries where the problem is most serious. It is a tripartite effort initiated by the concerned governments with the support and assistance of the industry (both companies and workers)and the ILO through its technical assistance programme, the International Programme for the Elimination of Child Labour(IPEC).

    Children who work in mines and quarries risk their health, their safety and their future. An estimated one million children currently work in this sector, and the number is on the increase in some parts of the world. Because of its inherent dangers, work in mining and quarrying is widely recognized as hazardous for children, one of the types of work that C. 182 on the Worst Forms of Child Labour urges us all to address as a matter of urgency.

    In search for the pot of gold: A case study of the experiences of the ILO-IPEC Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour in Small Mining Communities in the Province of Camarines Norte, Philippines

    The case study describes the lessons learned from the process, how the alliance has been formed, and the varied responses employed to combat child labour. It is hoped that lessons generated from the project will help local advocates and project implementers improve on their work.
