    Caring Gold: Future without child labour

    The dark reality of child labour and poverty remain despite the glitter of gold. Going beyond child-focused interventions, the ILO Caring Gold Project funded by the United States Department of Labor (USDOL), convened key actors and introduced innovations to end child labour and to improve working conditions in artisanal and small-scale gold mines.

    With the growing global movement to support just transition and formalization of artisanal and small-scale gold mines, the ILO brought together experts and global actors to address child labour and poor working conditions in an inter-regional meeting held in the Philippines.

    Inter-Regional Knowledge-Sharing Forum on Child Labour and Working Conditions in ASGM

    The International Labour Organization's CARING Gold Mining Project, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, will host the first-ever Inter-Regional Knowledge-Sharing Forum to discuss issues on child labour and working conditions in artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) on 28-30 May 2019.

    Ghana marked the World Day Against Child Labour 2017 on June 7th with a Media Launch under the theme: "In conflicts and disasters, protect children from child labour: Mobilizing resources for effective implementation of the National Plan of Action for the Elimination of Child Labour - Phase II (NAP 2)". The event was under the auspices of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.
