Strengthening the Performance of the Social Insurance System in Viet Nam through Improved Legislation and Legal Framework for Social Insurance (Phase 2)

The project aims to help strengthen the quality and performance of the legislation and legal framework for social insurance in Viet Nam, thus improve the performance of the country’s social insurance system and contribute to the national economic development and social security.

Partners: Social Insurance Department under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Viet Nam Social Insurance, Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour
Target beneficiaries: Workers and pensioners in formal and informal sectors
Regional focus: Nationwide

Project objective

The quality and performance of the legislation and legal framework for social insurance in Viet Nam is strengthened, which leads to the improvement in the performance of the country’s social insurance system and contribute to the national economic development and social security.

Project outcomes

  • Legal and guiding documents are developed in consultation with key stakeholders, especially Vietnam Social Insurance, employers’ and employees’ representatives;
  • Employers and employees are aware of amended provisions in the Social Insurance Law.

Priority activities

  • Conduct consultation workshops on the draft circulars guiding the implementation of the Social Insurance Law which was adopted in 2014;
  • Provide support to increase law literacy on the Social Insurance Law by raising public awareness.
