Technical workshop "CSR implementation at enterprises - role and engagement of the workers" for policy makers

Representatives of DOLISAs, FOLs and provicial affiliates of Viet Nam Cooperative Alliance from 10 provinces and cities from Central Coastal and Mekong Delta regions, together with wood and seafood associations, representatives from EU Delegation to Viet Nam (Trade and Economic Affairs section) and EUROCHAM Viet Nam, will participate in 2-day workshop from 13-14 February 2020 in Can Tho City. Key topic of discussion will be the role of the workers in implementing ILO's CSR agenda and how they can effectively engage in this process. The workshop is co-organized within the RSCA (ILO) project by ILO Hanoi and the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour, aiming to advocacy to the process of ratification of EVFTA by the EU Parliament and the Viet Nam National Assembly which to take place this year.

In addition to the full meaning of CRS that each expected enterprise should be in the driving seat, the engagement and role of workers in effectively application of ILS through CSR lens could be very important and necessary. This implies the implementation of the ILO’s CSR agenda at company level should pay adequate weight to the role and engagement of the labour in the process, the employer and employee dialogue, the access to remedy and the role of state-based non-judicial grievance mechanism. They are the essential attributes of effective industrial relations – one of key aspects of ILO's CSR agenda and are the topics of discussions in the workshop "CSR implementation - role and engagement of the workers" in Can Tho City (13-14 Feb. 2020).

In the workshop, participants will also have chance to obtain information related to the expectations on CSR of the EU buyers and the current status of CSR implementation in wood and seafood supply chains in Vietnam, to share some good practices from national companies and the successful example of Multi-Enterprises Collective Bargaining Agreement (MECBA) of the NIRF project.
