Validation Workshop for the ILO-VCCI Study on Decent Work in the Electronics sector in Vietnam: The Roles of MNEs in generating more and better jobs

The workshop aimed to validate the preliminary findings and recommendations of ILO-VCCI study on decent work in the electronics sector in Vietnam and discuss the roles of multinational enterprises in generating more and better jobs.

The project “More and Better Jobs through Socially Responsible Labor Practices in Vietnam” aims at encouraging multinational enterprises to contribute positively to economic and social development through socially responsible labor practices in Viet Nam, with a special focus on the electronics sector. It is part of the ILO’s country-level effort in promoting the ILO Tripartite Declaration on Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration) which aims at maximizing the contribution that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and MNEs operating in the electronics sector towards generation of decent work in Viet Nam.

Objectives

The workshop was organized with the view to reaching out to the multinational enterprises operating in Vietnam and to validate the preliminary findings and recommendations of ILO-VCCI study on decent work in the electronics sector in Vietnam and discuss the roles of multinational enterprises in generating more and better jobs.

Participants

Participants were tripartite constituents, key stakeholders from the electronics sector, business associations, Chambers of Commerce and development partners
