Consultation Workshop on Draft Report on Review Implementation of the Law 72

A targeted consultation workshop to commence broader stakeholder discussions on the Law review is held in Viet Nam on 20-21 August 2015.

Objective

A targeted consultation workshop to commence broader stakeholder discussions on the Law review is held in Da nang, Viet Nam on 20-21 August 2015. The intention is that this workshop is enable key stakeholders to provide initial views on the objectives of the review in the context of Viet Nam’s future labour migration needs, what issues need to be addressed during the review, and for the Department of Overseas Labour (DOLAB) to present on their preliminary findings. The workshop allows participants to better familiarize themselves with specific provisions of the Law.

Outcome

The outcome of discussions is then be used to inform the forward workplan for progressing the review, and facilitate more detailed discussion on how the law can be changed to give effect to the key objectives identified by stakeholders.

Participants

The workshop is be attended by tripartite constituents (DOLAB, Viet Nam Association of Manpower Supply, Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour), representatives from the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in each of the five target provinces under the GMS TRIANGLE project, and recruitment agencies. IOM and UN Women are invited to reflect on broader migration considerations, particularly in respect of gender.
