HANOI (ILO News) – The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) has launched the Vietnamese versions of two ILO’s publications on freedom of association and international labour conventions.

Limited copies of the books entitled “Handbook of procedures relating to International Labour Conventions and Recommendations” and “Digest of decisions and principles of the Freedom of Association Committee of the governing Body of the ILO” are now available for free distribution.

The publication of the two books is under an agreement between MoLISA and the ILO to help Viet Nam with feasibility studies towards the ratification of ILO fundamental conventions No 87 (Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize) and No 98 (Right to Organise and Collective Bargaining), and to enhance the country’s capacity to implement and report its implementation of ILO conventions.

It also aimed to support the Labour Code revision process. This process was expected to make the important Code better aligned with international labour standards as Viet Nam is deepening its international integration through various free trade deals, including the one with the European Union.
