Online toolkit of resources to support member States in ratifying up-to-date standards on OSH in construction and mining

The Standards Review Mechanism Tripartite Working Group (SRM TWG) was established in 2015 to review the ILO’s international labour standards. Through this body, the ILO’s tripartite constituents aim to ensure that the Organization’s body of standards is robust and responsive to the constantly changing patterns of the world of work, for the purpose of the protection of workers and taking into account the needs of sustainable enterprises.

The Office is now working to support constituents in following up the SRM TWG’s recommendations resulting from its review of the OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) instruments. In relation to the Governing Body’s decisions that member States are encouraged to ratify up-to-date instruments, the Office is available to provide technical assistance. It has created online resource kits to provide technical support on OSH in the construction and mining sectors including Codes of Practice; tools to support capacity-building; and awareness-raising materials.

Additional work is underway to develop, with the tripartite constituents, guidelines as requested by the Governing Body on chemical risks, ergonomics, biological risks, construction as well as labour inspection.
