Video-conference on the World Day for Safety and Health at Work
The innovative teleconference between Ukraine and Russia was carried out in the rank of other promotional activities devoted to the occasion in the two countries. The event made it possible to further raise awareness in the occupational safety and health (OSH) field of tripartite partners and enterprises, as well as get them acquainted with the modern trends in harmonization of national OSH legislation with the ILO and European Union (EU) OSH standards.
The two-hours video-conference was organized in line with collaboration between the ILO OSH projects Developing and implementing Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) system in the North-West region of the Russian Federation to provide Decent and Safe work and Improving safety and health at work through the decent work agenda in Ukraine, Moldova and Russia.

A question is being raised by Trade Unions in Saint Petersburg
As partners of the project in the North West region of the Russian Federation, the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health as well as the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health contributed to the opening session, agenda of the video-conference, and discussions in Saint Petersburg.
Being an innovative form of promotion of knowledge sharing on OSH tools and good practices, the teleconference brightly displayed the possibility to share experience among Russian and Ukrainian OSH experts. All 46 participants from tripartite representatives in Russia and Ukraine agreed to continue organizing the thematic videoconferences between St. Petersburg and Kyiv. The ILO project coordinators are to study the possibility to include the tripartite partners from Moldova into this activity.
Special emphasis was placed on the following issues:
- the ratification of the ILO conventions and the implementation of their provisions in both countries;
- OSH in a ‘green’ economy;
- promotion of a preventative OSH culture at enterprises;
- the All-Ukrainian campaign and painting contest “Children’s view on OSH”;
- the EU and Russian experience gained in the sphere of the implementation of the ‘zero accident’ concept at enterprises.
