    Today, most international migrants leave their countries of origin in search of employment and better wages abroad. The ILO estimates that over 150 million migrant workers worldwide are moving from one country to another, mostly within the same region, but also across regions. Labour migration, if well-managed, can have positive development impacts benefiting migrant workers, as well as their countries of origin and destination’s economies and productivity.

    ILO Workplace Adaptation Programme aims to help ensure and enhance labour peace and contribute to an efficient and peaceful working environment in unity and solidarity through trainings on promoting the adaptation of Syrian and Turkish workers working at the same workplace and eliminating prejudice. More than 150 Syrian and Turkish workers at 16 firms located in Adana, Mersin and Gaziantep have benefited from ILO's Workplace Adaptation Programme.

    Boshra is only one of thousands of Syrians who participated in the vocational trainings and Turkish language courses carried out by the ILO in cooperation with the local partners. In cooperation with Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen and Vocational Training Centres, ILO supports the access of Syrians to apprenticeship programmes by informing enterprises and Syrians about the apprenticeship system and by establishing linkages between vocational training centres and the private sector.
