The 2022 Pacific Update is co-hosted by the Development Policy Centre and the University of the South Pacific’s School of Accounting, Finance and Economics. The Pacific Update is the premier forum for discussion of economic, social, political, and environmental issues in the region.

The regional dialogue was facilitated through the PCCMHS programme led by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) alongside the International Labour Organization (ILO), Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD) and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS). The joint-agency PCCMHS programme is funded by the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security and the New Zealand Aid Programme.

The government of Nigeria, representatives of employers’ and workers’ organizations and development partners have launched a new initiative to place jobs and social justice at the centre of the ecological transition.
Stockholm+50 is an international meeting convened by the United Nations General Assembly to be held in Stockholm, Sweden from 2-3 June 2022. Stockholm+50 will commemorate the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment and celebrate 50 years of global environmental action. The ILO will participate in this important event to drive the implementation of a just transition and the creation of decent work for a green economy.

To assist young people in further translating their activism, commitment and creativity into action, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) have designed the “IsDB-ILO Green Skills Accelerator Challenge Call”, with the overarching goal of promoting youth participation and skills for green jobs for a just transition.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) participated in the fifteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), which was held in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, from 9 to 20 May 2022. A high-level delegation led by Moustapha Kamal Gueye, Global Coordinator of the Green Jobs Programme at the ILO headquarters in Geneva, participated in a number of meetings and issued a statement.
