    Independent evaluation of the ILO's strategy for the elimination of discrimination in employment and occupation (Volume 1 of 2)

    The period under review included two Strategic Policy Frameworks (SPFs), 2006–09 and 2010–15, and three P&B biennia covering the period from 2007 to 2011. The evaluation team assessed the evolution of the ILO’s non-discrimination work from activities responding to the Global Reports (GRs) and Action Plans (APs), to a specific strategic outcome, Outcome 17, under the 2010–11 P&B.

    This publication provides insights into how disability perspectives may be incorporated into policies, laws, services and programmes, and the essential elements for sustainable and inclusive growth of societies. ILO-Irish Aid supported projects on disability (INCLUDE and PEPDEL) operating in Cambodia, Ethiopia, Thailand and Viet Nam provide the basis for the case stories, examples of good practice and lessons learned presented in this publication.

It has recently been described by a major multinational corporation as a "goldmine of ideas" for developing its disability diversity strategy.

    Paving a way out of poverty for people with intellectual disabilities

    Millions of people with intellectual disabilities and their families are inordinately affected by poverty and social and economic exclusion. In March 2010, the ILO–Irish Aid Partnership Programme gathered representatives from several East African countries, Australia and the United Kingdom at a three-day conference in Lusaka, Zambia to explore opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to train and work alongside non-disabled workers in their communities, thereby paving a way out of poverty.
