Boosting Social Enterprise Development in Malaysia

This webinar, co-hosted by the ILO, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) will explore ways to strengthen the social enterprise ecosystem in Malaysia. It aims to raise awareness on social enterprises’ contribution to addressing social needs, including by creating employment and income opportunities for disadvantaged and marginalized groups.

The webinar will feature a presentation from the ILO on the outcomes of the general discussion on decent work and the social and solidarity economy at the 110th session of the International Labour Conference. It will also feature a presentation on regional and national trends on social enterprises, and the newly launched Malaysia Social Entrepreneurship Blueprint 2030 (SEMy 2030). Representatives from Malaysia, Singapore, Türkiye and the UK will share good practices, and government and social enterprise representatives will be invited as commentators. This event is expected to generate dialogue on possible ways to bridge gaps and leverage opportunities to accelerate the growth of social enterprises in Malaysia.
