Pact for Impact is an initiative led by the High Commissioner of Social and Solidarity Economy and Social Innovation in France. It aims to create a Global Alliance that promotes and strengthens the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) and the Inclusive Economy businesses and all stakeholders of social innovation.

The two-day summit brought together 400 SSE stakeholders and government representatives from 50 countries. The 10 sessions at the event ranged from the SDGs, technology, and financing to measuring impact, youth and employment featuring 70 speakers. See full programme here.

Mr. Vic van Vuuren, ILO’s Enterprises Department Director and Chair of the UN Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE), participated as a speaker in the official opening session. He presented highlights of the work of UN Task Force on the Social and Solidarity Economy which is currently chaired by the ILO. He noted the importance of recognizing the role of Social and Solidarity Economy in advancing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda at the national, regional and international levels. Ms. Esim Simel, the Head of Cooperative Unit in the ILO, intervened as one of the keynote speakers at the plenary session co-organized by the UNTFSSE on the ‘2030 Agenda: no Sustainable Development Goals without the Social and Inclusive Economy!’ along with other participants from government ministries, local governments and social enterprises. She presented the ILO’s commitment to mainstreaming decent work into social and solidarity economy laws, policies and programmes. She shared the work of the ILO toward eliminating child labour by activating the potential of social and solidarity economy organizations such as agricultural cooperatives that are active in rural areas.

Pact for Impact Summit called for the creation of an Alliance of States, governments, international institutions, local authorities and organizations committed to a social and inclusive economy. It also a and for the signature of the common declaration “Manifesto of Pact for Impact”, which states that all the signatories are convinced to “promote another path, based on new multi-stakeholder alliances, which relies on the energy and the expertise of the citizens and mobilizes the economic and financial power to serve the social, societal, and environmental impact, by innovating closer to the territories”.
