SADA Women’s Cooperative in Turkey selected for the Paris Peace Forum

The Paris Peace Forum announced the 100 projects that it has selected for its second edition out of 700 submissions it has received. 

SADA Women's Cooperative in Turkey was selected as one of these initiatives in the field of inclusive economy. The ILO is responsible for providing livelihood training for the economic and social empowerment of women and supporting the establishment of the women's cooperative that brings women from the host communities in Gaziantep, Turkey together with Syrian and Afghan women. The cooperative is one of the activities under the UN Women project on “Increasing the Resilience of Syrian Women and Girls Project” which is implemented by the ILO and ASAM.

The 50 members of the SADA Women's Cooperative, who are trained in footwear, food and textile production, bring their own own cultural and historical traditions to their products. The first of its kind bringing women from host and refugee communities together, SADA Women's Cooperative managers and members will have the opportunity to participate in the forum that will be held in France on November 11-13, 2019.
