Discusses input-based and output-based methodological approaches to economic evaluation of unpaid work. Critically reviews 40 such evaluations.
This volume builds on earlier work by the author on the methology of evaluating unpaid household work. The first study, which appeared in 1982 in the Women, Work and Development series under the title Unpaid work in the household: A review of economic evaluation methods, dealt with Europe and North America. The study here extends the review to eocnomic evaluations of domestic and related activities performed in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Oceania.
