    Through an intensive training, the ILO has strengthened the capacity of road construction engineers from Ethiopia’s refugee-hosting districts to apply labour intensive methods to boost socio-economic development through infrastructural development and job creation.

    Through iUPSHIFT programme, youth mentors trained by the ILO and UNICEF in Uganda on social entrepreneurship and life skills, developed innovative ideas to improve waste management and sustainable energy production.

    Following years of displacement and uncertainty, Samar from Mosul has set up a business making and selling sweets and pastries. She talks about her journey of becoming a successful entrepreneur, with the support of an ILO financial inclusion initiative providing entrepreneurs with trainings and loans to start or expand their businesses.

    Brighter light and higher hopes: Solar energy systems keep technical schools running in Lebanon

    The ILO provided a number of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) schools with solar systems in Lebanon to keep their doors open and trained their students on solar panel installation and maintenance to build their skills and help them find job opportunities amid the country’s multifaceted crisis.
