Gender Equality and Disability Awareness Workshops

Mainstreaming gender equality and disability awareness into the design and delivery of ILO’s component of the PROSPECTS Partnership

In the context of the Dutch-funded multi-partner Partnership PROSPECTS, two regional thematic workshops “Mainstreaming gender equality and disability awareness into the design and delivery of ILO’s component of the PROSPECTS Programme” were held in Beirut (23-26 September 2019) and in Nairobi (14-18 October 2019).

The workshops were in response to the real need to integrate diversity and inclusion in forced displacement contexts, so as to ensure that ILO interventions had gender and disability mainstreaming components as well as women- or disability-specific elements.

The aim of the workshops was to ensure that gender and disability inclusion are specifically mainstreamed across all planning activities as well as to develop specific interventions targeting women and People With Disabilities (PWDs).

With the support of the ILO Gender, Equality and Diversity & ILOAIDS Branch (GED/ILOAIDS), the workshop targeted PROSPECTS Programme teams from the four countries of the Horn of Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Uganda) and the four countries in the MENA region (Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon) covered by the Partnership.

The ILO also included partner-wide sessions in the workshop programmes to explore areas of collaboration and coordination.
