9th ILO European Regional Meeting:
Agenda and accreditation information

GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) will hold its 9th European Regional Meeting (ERM) focused on “Jobs, growth and social justice” in Oslo on 8-11 April.

Government, worker and employer representatives from the ILO’s 51 European and Central Asian member States will discuss the way forward for the region in the context of a prolonged financial, economic and social crisis. They will consider policies and reforms that can safeguard both the European social model and the region’s future in the global economy.

The programme includes
  • a panel discussion of Heads of State or Government, the ILO and OECD on “How to tackle the consequences of the financial crisis”;
  • a High-level tripartite ILO/IMF/EC panel discussion on “Recovery from the crisis – Coherent policies for growth and jobs”;
  • a High-level tripartite panel discussion with the participation of Ministers of Labour and Finance on “Job-rich growth and quality jobs”.

The conference venue has a media center with wireless Internet access and live stream from the plenary sessions and press conferences. The plenary sessions and press conferences will be webcast on www.ilo.org/erm9 and on www.regjeringen.no/erm9. Exclusive interviews will also be available on www.thenewsmarket.com/norway.

Press conferences: Panel discussions will be followed by press conferences.

Press room: During the Conference, a media centre will be available with free wireless Internet access.

Radio/television coverage and facilities: Broadcast journalists may cover selected sessions from the press area of the plenary and press conference rooms.

Advance media accreditation


Correspondents covering the European Regional Meeting must be accredited by the ILO even if they already hold UN or Norwegian media accreditation.

To obtain accreditation for the Meeting, correspondents should download and complete an accreditation form and send it, accompanied by a photocopy of media credentials (a valid professional press card or other proof of professional status) and their identity card or national passport, by email (accreditationerm@ilo.org) or fax (+322/735-4825) to the ILO before Thursday 4 April 2013.

Correspondents should collect their badges at the accreditation desk, Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Oslo on presentation of a valid photo ID.
