  1. ILO/World Bank discussion on Jobs and Policy Responses to the Crisis

    The World Bank (WB) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) are holding a discussion on how the recent financial and economic crisis and the policy responses to that crisis have affected the quality and the quantity of jobs. During the discussion, a new ILO/WB inventory of policy responses to the financial and economic crisis and a joint report will be launched.

    A High Level Interactive Conference, under the theme “Employment for Stability and Socio-Economic Progress in North Africa”, was held on 18-19 April in Cairo, Egypt to build consensus among stakeholders and development partners on the key priorities and actions required to implement an employment-centred and rights-based approach for stability and growth in the sub-region.

  1. 30th International Congress on Occupational Health

    18 - 23 March 2012

    The 30th Congress of the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) will bring together occupational health researchers and practitioners from all over the world to share and learn from each other the most current advances in the field of occupational health. The theme of the congress is "Occupational health for all: From research to practice" and is based on the belief that all workers require health protection to prevent any occupational disease or injury as part of their human and labor rights.

  2. ILO Consultation in Brussels: "Decent Work for Youth – the EU Dimension"

    On 16 March 2012, the ILO and the EESC co-organised a Consultation in Brussels, titled Decent Work for Youth – the EU Dimension. This event took place in the run-up to the ILO's 2012 International Labour Conference (ILC), where a discussion on Youth Employment will be held. The ILO is organizing 45 national and regional ILO consultations on youth employment around the world in March 2012. The results of the Brussels Consultation will be used as an input for the June 2012 International Labour Conference, and for the ILO Youth Employment forum taking place on 23-25 May 2012.

  3. 313th Session of the Governing Body of the ILO

    The Governing Body is the executive body of the International Labour Organization (the Office is the secretariat of the Organization). It meets three times a year, in March, June and November. It takes decisions on ILO policy, decides the agenda of the International Labour Conference, adopts the draft Programme and Budget of the Organization for submission to the Conference, and elects the Director-General.

  4. Migrant workers: responsible recruitment & fair hiring to combat human trafficking in South Asia

    The Institute for Human Rights and Business and Verité organize a multi-stakeholder roundtable to explore the challenges, risks and human rights responsibilities around recruiting Indian, Bangladeshi and Nepali migrant workers for overseas employment, and ensuring responsible practice to combat human trafficking.
