National Workshop on Achievements of the ILO/MOLISA/Japan OSH Project

The objectives of the workshop are to share and assess the project’s achievements as well as discuss on how to sustain the success of the project in the future. The workshop is also an opportunity for participants and enterprises to exchange and share good practices in improving work conditions at the workplaces for further strengthening of occupational safety and health in Viet Nam.

After three years of implementation, the ILO/MOLISA/Japan OSH Project on “Effective implementation of the National OSH Programme for Improving safety at workplaces in Viet Nam” (RAS/08/07M/JPN) comes to an end on 31 December 2011. A national workshop on achievements of the project is organized on 9 December 2011 in Hanoi by the ILO Office in Viet Nam in collaboration with the Bureau for Safe Work under Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA).

The project achieved a number of success at both national and provincial levels. At national level, the project supported country’s efforts in effectively implementing the first National OSH Programme. The project also assisted Government of Viet Nam in updating the second National OSH profile and developing the second National OSH Programme; improving the occupational accidents and injury reporting system; developing the National Guideline on OSH-MS and Action Guide on BOSH and WISE; and developing the draft OSH Law.

At provincial level, the project developed and adapted a number of training materials for SMEs (WISE), for farmers (WIND) and for home-based workers (WISH). A number of training courses on three areas were organized to train core trainers in the four target provinces (Thai Nguyen, Dong Nai, Thanh Hoa and Thua Thien Hue) and five extended provinces (Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Bac Ninh and Hai Duong). The training activities significantly contributed to awareness raising for employers and workers to improve work conditions for better health and higher productivity.

Around 100 participants from Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and ILO Hanoi, MOLISA departments, representatives of workers’ and employers’ organizations, local SMEs and other relevant agencies and international organizations attend the workshop.

The objectives of the workshop are to share and assess the project’s achievements as well as discuss on how to sustain the success of the project in the future. The workshop is also an opportunity for participants and enterprises to exchange and share good practices in improving work conditions at the workplaces aiming at further strengthening of occupational safety and health in Viet Nam.
