Media Advisory: ILO and UNEP to publish new report on green economy

Media advisory | 24 May 2012
GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) are to launch a new report entitled “Working towards sustainable development: Opportunities for decent work and social inclusion in a green economy" on Thursday 31 May 2012.

The study shows that, if accompanied by the right policy mix, a green economy can also create more and better jobs, lift people out of poverty and promote social inclusion. It also demonstrates that employment and social inclusion must be an integral part of any sustainable development strategy.

Electronic copies of the report, an executive summary and related media material will be made available to journalists upon request by contacting the ILO Department of Communication and Public Information at +4122/799-7912, communication@ilo.org.

The report and all related information are embargoed until 10:00 GMT on Thursday, 31 May.
