    Austerity measures have been counterproductive according to the ILO's Director-General, Guy Ryder who likened their effects to a drug that was too potent. Speaking to Richard Quest on CNN's "Quest Means Business" at the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland, Ryder said it was time to down the dose of austerity and that a paralysis of policies to create employment was one of the main obstacles to recovery in many countries.

The report also warns of an alarming skills mismatch affecting most countries, where employers can't find workers with the necessary skills.

    In the US, three million jobs are needed just to replace the pre-crisis loss, and additional seven million will be needed to absorb the people coming into the job market, ILO Director-General Guy Ryder said in a special CNBC World Wide Exchange. Such ambition is required to go along with a better job creation, added the ILO Chief concluding that we will see quite a lot of employment relocation, especially in the manufacturing sector and that countries like the US need to be ready to exploit new opportunities as they arise.
